The Eger Wine Region
The Eger wine region is a cornucopia of pleasures with slopes that give wonderful and inimitable possibilities for noble and delicious wine. It is the birthplace of both serious white wine and exciting red wine that provides unique experiences for Eger’s wine tasters. The diverse terrain is the home of good microclimate territories where the grape, the most amazing gift of the Creator, can flourish.
The exciting climate created by the cycle of cold and warmth helps the soil give away great flavors and fruit characteristics associated with Eger wine. St. Andrea vineyard aspires to create characteristic Eger wines. We also aspired to do good and exhibit true wine-making values to wine lovers.
Our grapes can be found along different sites in the region: Paptag, Ferenchegy, Kovászó, Kiseged, Magyalos, Boldogságos, Hangács, and Nagyeged. Our plantations have 5,000 -10,000 stock/ha capacity and we use traditional methods to help impart the flavors of the nature into our wines.
These days there are dozens of varieties in the Eger wine region. Our plantations provide nineteen varieties for our wines. The traditional Eger wine was always made of multiple varieties. The St. Andrea vineyard follows this old tradition: Napbor, Örökké, Rose, Akutyafáját, Áldás, Merengő.
Our vineyard consciously looks for the flavors of the sites—flavors that are unique to the sites. Our wines are aged in oak barrels, as was the practice in the time of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers. The cradle of the wine is its barrel.
Eger wine is a grateful drink, long lasting and full of love. The St. Andrea vineyard wants to be a true representative of Eger wine.
